The Friends of Willow River and Kinnickinnic State Parks, Inc. are offering beginner, family-friendly kayak lessons! Kayaking is a great way to experience the outdoors, get healthy exercise, and have fun.
Including a special event: A paddle down the scenic Kinnickinnic River to the St. Croix!
No previous kayak experience is required. However, you should be comfortable in water over your head. All equipment is provided, kayaks, paddles, and personal flotation devices. You may bring your own personal flotation device. Personal flotation devices must be worn at all times. Class is limited to 10 participants.
Sign up for a series of four, 1½ hour, kayak lessons on Mondays or Wednesdays.
•Lesson Times: 6:00 p.m.–7:30 p.m.
•Lesson Dates for Mondays: July 16, 23, 30, August 6
•Lesson Dates for Wednesdays: July 18, 25 and August 1, 8
We encourage “buddy” sign ups. Friends or family members registering together pay a discounted fee.
Cost: $40 for the first registrant, $30 for each additional member of a group.
Bonus: Attend all four lessons and receive half of your fee back!
Waivers must be signed at the first class. A parent or guardian must sign for participants under age 18. Participants under the age of 16 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian who is also a class participant. There is no lower age limit. However, participants will be using one-person kayaks and must be capable of paddling on their own.
